DIRECTIONS FOR USE
IMPORTANT: Before using Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs refer to the relevant Health & Safety Data Sheet, available at www.bostik.co.uk.
PREPARATION
1. Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust, grease, and loose materials.
2. Gaps, deep hollows and depressions greater than 3mm should be filled with an appropriate filler.
3. Porous surfaces should be lightly dampened with water before application. Non-porous surfaces should be dry or only very slightly damp.
4. For improved adhesion on porous, rough, dusty surfaces, apply Bostik Flashband Primer Emulsion or Bostik Flashband Primer SV.
5. Apply Bostik Flashband Primer (or SV), according to the relevant data sheets. Allow to dry, but protect from rain or frost.
6. Do not leave the Bostik Flashband Primer for more than 24 hours and therefore only coat an area sufficient for covering within the working day.
7. Surfaces such as mineralised felt or textured brick may require two coats; apply the second coat when the first coat has dried.
APPLICATION

sealing strip as the product is applied.
11. Smooth gently into position using hand pressure, only. Avoid excessive pressure.
12. Using a seam roller or a piece of rounded wood, smooth the tape to ensure good overall contact and expel any air, especially on overlaps and at edges.
13. When laying adjacent rolls, Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs should be overlapped by a minimum of 25mm for a watertight seal.
14. Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs can be over-painted with conventional decorative paints, though a little staining of the latter may occur
at the edges of the strip.
15. Fully bonded Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs will not accommodate appreciable joint movement.
16. For small movements apply a strip of release backing,50mm narrower than the Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs, along the joint prior
to the application of the Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs.
17. For larger movement, polyethylene foam can be laid proud of the joint, so enabling the web of supported Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs
to accept the movement.
18. Whilst Bostik Flashband Self Adhesive Flashing Tape for Roofs will not damage plastic sheets it is important to bear in mind the high thermal movement of these
materials.
19. If long lengths of plastic are to be sealed use, 500mm lengths overlapped by 25mm to reduce the effect of the movement.
